While the Iowa vote will sadly be remembered for chaos and delay, it also marks the emergence of a new fault line in US progressive politics that’s worth exploring.

Snapshot: The two candidates are offering a very different critique of and vision for America. In Sanders, there is a clear rejection of the ultra-capitalist model which defines America’s economy, health and education system. Whereas, for Buttigieg, the emphasis is on reform and continuing the traditional American dream.
